Syngenta Flowers to acquire dahlia assortment from Verwer Dahlia BV

Gilroy, CA - Syngenta Flowers announced today that it has reached an agreement with Verwer Dahlia BV to acquire its dahlia assortment and breeding program. Both companies expect to finalize the acquisition in the coming weeks. Terms have not been disclosed.
Verwer Dahlia BV, one of the leading dahlia innovators in the Netherlands, was established in 1967 in Lisse in the heart of the bulb-growing region in the Netherlands.
The Royal Horticultural Society recently awarded Aad and Cees Verwer the prestigious Reginald Cory Memorial Cup for their successful hybridization program that resulted in the recent introduction and availability of new hybrids of merit.
Their dahlia assortment has over 140 registered varieties, including well-known series like GalleryTM, MelodyTM and the recently introduced DahlegriaTM dahlias.

Verwer Dahlia’s activities in the dahlia tuber market are not part of the planned acquisition and will continue as before.
