About the Trial
The Cornell University CALS trial sites in Ithaca, New York — a Zone 5b/6a climate. Seeds are sown, and cuttings are propagated in the early spring with the first plantings in June, after the last frost. The team at Cornell keeps the trial garden conditions as close to that of a typical homeowner. They do not take “extreme measures” when caring for the plants; they may deadhead or conduct judicious pruning, but care is minimal. This allows us to see the true representation of how the cultivars will perform in a home garden.
